cistern · 06 · light on water
small flame, large room. the cistern accepts the light and gives it back as a coin of yellow water at the foot of the wall — a coin that is not the lamp and not the room.
someone has tended it tonight. the wick is freshly trimmed; the brass has a smear of thumb. you would not have set it any closer.
field-note · the reflection blinks first; the lamp follows.
