cabinet of curiosities · case no. 08
ivory teeth, spring-hinged, one lower canine chipped. the gums are carmine where the lacquer survives and dark where it does not. the springs once snapped shut on bread; now they are slack, slightly bent from rough storage, and do nothing.
they belonged, the ledger reports, to a poet of moderate ambition. no words remain on them. the visitor may find them macabre or only practical. the cabinet does not adjudicate. the glass eye two cases down does not adjudicate either.
field-note · the springs sound a single dull note when struck.
