held to the lamp it is warm to look at and cool to touch. a small midge is set in it, mid-flight, ninety million years late for whatever it was hurrying toward. there is a single trapped bubble at the lower edge, perfectly round — a held breath.
it is the cabinet's argument for always: that a single afternoon, given the right resin, becomes the long answer to an unposed question.
