printed in 1898 from a drawing made in 1640 from a bird that was already, by then, in the last decade of its species. it is a copy of a copy of a copy. the dodo, on the front, looks slightly affronted, as is its right.
the back is blank but for a single line of address. the card was never sent. it arrived anyway. it sits in the paper drawer with the orchid and the small hand — a quiet shelf of things that lasted because they were already flat.
