sectioned cleanly, the chambers ascend in a slow argument with the golden mean. each one held the creature for a season; each one was left behind in turn. one keeps moving outward, the rooms remain.
the curator likes it for this: a small autobiography in pearl. it reminds the visitor that memory may also be a shape — a series of sealed rooms one trails behind, all of them empty now, all of them part of the swimmer.
