drawer · a single linen, embroidered
linen. heavier than what is sold now. it is folded into quarters, as it has been since the household it came from believed in folding things in that particular way. an initial is embroidered in the corner; it is not yours.
there were once eleven others. the others have gone, separately, where things go. this one is too good to use and too old to give away.
field-note: a small brown shadow on one corner. coffee, almost certainly, and old enough now to be its own dye.
