the eaves

the ceiling comes down to meet the floor at an angle you cannot quite stand under. the light arrives slantwise through a single small pane and finds whatever is in it.

what is in it, mostly, is a trunk, and a small house, and a quantity of dust that has decided, by long agreement, to remain.

field-note: the slope does not change. the things underneath rearrange around it.
