pitted, heavier than its size implies. the fusion crust is dull and slightly oily where the thumb has been; the iron in it draws a small magnet without comment. it was once part of a moon, or of nothing at all — only of the long fall.
it is the oldest object in the cabinet. older than the cabinet, older than the stones under the house, older than the idea of a house. the placard gives no date. one is not given to it.
